All You Need to Know About the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The renowned Indian Sunil Gavaskar and Australian Allan Border, two of the game’s finest players ever, are honored with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The trophy’s nomenclature makes sense because both players held the world record for the most career runs scored in Test Cricket, were the first two players to score over 10,000 test runs, and both led their nations at some point in their careers. India and Australia compete in a Test cricket series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Every two years, it is played through the International Cricket Council’s future tours programs. As of January 2021, India holds the trophy after defeating Australia in 2020-21 by two Tests to one, with one drawn match.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was first played in the 1996–1997 campaign. Before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, 50 times over 49 years, test matches between Australia and India were played.
